# Primary language

By default, ghost will install the main language as English for your site (en). You need to change the language to use.

## Set the main language for the site

Go to **Settings** \> **General** \> **Publication Language** and change the language `en` to your language.

for example, `vi` is Vietnamese

💡

Not adding Region code like `vi-VN` will cause theme error

## Install the main language for Portal

Not done yet, you need to change Portal's default language to Vietnamese.

Go to **Settings** \> **Labs** and turn on Portal translation to let ghost automatically change the language for email and portal according to the main language you installed above.
